12 STEPS
1. The first step is to open a web browser and visit USIMS website. Start here.

2. If you registered with the (SSO) Single Sign-On option, please click the button to use your Microsoft or Google Account

3. If you previously registered a USIMS account because you did not have a Microsoft or Google Account to use, please enter your email address and USIMS password, then click Sign in

4. You are now on the Educator Licensing Portal in USIMS. Please allow a few moments for the system to determine what task items need to be completed.

5. At this point, you have one task item that is not started, indicated by the yellow flag next to the item.

6. Start with the task under "Checklist." When you hover over this task, it turns blue, indicating you can click to enter, and complete the task.

7. Click the Date of Birth text box and type in your date of birth in the format of 2 digits for the month, 2 digits for the day, and 4 digits for the year.

8. Click or Press Tab to select the Social Security Number. text box, and type in your number.

9. If you do not yet have a Social Security Number issued by the S.S.A, (Social Security Admin) you will not be able to move forward with any process in USIMS.

10. Click or press tab to the next field and retype your Social Security Number to confirm.
Note: You may have to hit the "Tab" key a few times to move your cursor through the fields in order for the Submit button to turn blue.

11. Click Submit. USIMS will now run a check for existing data in the legacy database CACTUS (Comprehensive Administration of Credentials for Teachers in Utah Schools).

12. That's it. You're done. The task item has now moved to the lower half of the Educator License Portal Dashboard, and shows as completed. No further action is needed for this particular task.
