for permissions.

Naming Courses
Examples of Course Name Suggestions:
- Here are some suggestions:
- 0100 – Attendance Classes – 1st Grade Attendance
- 0200 – Attendance Classes – 2nd Grade Attendance
- 0300 – Attendance Classes – 3rd Grade Attendance
- 0400 – Attendance Classes – 4th Grade Attendance
- 0500 – Attendance Classes – 5th Grade Attendance
1000’s - Fine Art Classes



- 2000’s – Social Studies Classes

- 3000’s - Health / Science Classes
- 4000’s - English/Language Arts Classes



- 6000’s – Classes that are a little different than the regular core –
This is where a lot of districts/ charters will put ATE Concurrent, or College class
To Create New Courses - Select New Course

To see all courses - select – the green icon – Display all Courses


Edit a course – select course card

Begin editing – Save Course

To search for a specific course – start typing the name of the course in the Course field

or type in the course title, course code (number), cactus core code

To create a New Course
You may need to check numbering first to see what number sequence is available.
Do this by selecting - Display all Courses.
To see all courses - select – the green icon – Display all Courses


There is a gap in the numbers that are available –
In the Mathematics category - Course Code: 01165 - and the next Course Code number being used is: 01170 – so, you can create a new Course Code in Mathematics category – available course codes: 01166. 01167, 01168, 01169.
Select - New Course

Add the available Course Code - 01166 –
Add - Course Title
Status - Active
Select - Subject Code -

Select - Mark Set -

Add – Credits – usually this should always be 1.000 unless it is an AP course and it could be 1.250
Add – Weight - weight awards more credit per course for GPA on courses such as AP courses, College courses – high level content courses.
Do not select this if not applicable.

Select – Cactus Core Code – start typing number or name

Select – Low Grade Level – High Grade Level

Set By default – Assign Grades
Take Attendance
Post to Student Course History is used for secondary transcript data
but, will be fine left checked for elementary courses.
Not set - By default - Can have Scheduling Conflicts. This feature is used for allowing courses to be scheduled over the top of each other. Courses scheduled during the same periods)
Example: Period 1 – student takes more than one course - this is allowed, but don’t set it here.
When running the Scheduling loader, this will cause courses to be scheduled over the top of each other and shouldn’t be allowed when using the Scheduling Loader. It is best to leave this field unchecked.
Notes field: - any information that you want to track about the course.

Save Course

New course – after saving, course will display at the top of the screen to show successfully created.

New course – will be added to the course list
